BBC Coverage - 20 October 2005 at 17:42

On the 24th and 28th Oct, the BBC will be featuring microlight flying. A must watch for us all.

Programme: INSIDE OUT
When? Monday 24th October 7:30pm BBC1
Summary: 90 year old Jim Kelly is still very active for his age and flying microlights is just one way of proving it. The BBC are so impressed that they are featuring Jim on their programme on Monday 24th October 7:30pm BBC1. Jim will be flying the Thruster Jabiru from Newtonards, N. Ireland - 25 years after his last flight from the airfield in a Cessna 150.

Programme: BLUE PETER
When? BBC 1 on 28th October at 5pm
Summary: On 26th September with winds gusting 42 knots at Newtownards the BBC Blue Peter team arrived at Newtownards to film their star local presenter Zoe Salmon flying a microlight around her home town of Bangor. The weather was so bad that the only things in the air that day were the Thruster microlight G-EVEY and the Jet Ranger helicopter with the BBC camera crew that was doing the air to air shots. Even the seagulls watched from a sheltered place on the ground. The results of the days filming can be seen on BBC 1 on 28th October at 5pm.

I think it's great some of that age can take to the skies. It's even better to see this being broadcast on Television! Have the dates/times in my diary. Thanks.
