ANTHONY CAMPBELL
CAA AUTHORISED FLYING INSTRUCTOR

From childhood I've always been fascinated by airplanes and often wondered how they managed to stay up there. I always imagined myself in the pilot's seat taking control. Even before that, I used to gaze at birds and be jealous of how they could just lift off and fly.

I recall one christmas morning, aged 5, I was overjoyed to see that Santa had brought me what I had cried about for along time - A Superman's suit. Finally, I thought to myself, when I put this suit on I will have the power of a bird. I played around with other toys I got that Christmas and then it came to the ultimate moment - trying on my superman's suit. I went upstairs, locked the bedroom door, and fitted the suit on - perfect fit, and a quick glance in the mirror, I was 'The Man'. I then heard my mother call "Anthony, come downstairs, your dinner is ready". Now was the perfect time for my grand entrance.

I lifted a chair from my room and placed it on the top of the stairway, and I got on top. I shouted "Mummy, leave the kitchen door open and I'll fly in for my dinner". Hands went up, knees went down, I leapt and and adjusted myself to fly towards the bottom of the stairs.....

a few hours later...

"Hello wee man" said this strange looking woman dressed in a nurse's uniform. My mother and father then appeared and it was then apparent that my superman's suit was indeed a faulty one! I ended spending Christmas in hospital and had to get my tongue stitched back on, and ended up with multiple fractures. I can tell you now, Santa got called some names that day!!

When I got older and I dare say alot wiser, the fascination still existed. While I'm still in my late twenties, it's only really been the past two years that I've acted upon it and got myself my pilot's qualification licence. A few years later I gained my Instructor's rating and still loving every second of it! I feel that I have learned alot about microlights from my instructor, the bmaa, other websites, other pilots, magazines etc. and I decided to build this site to gather everyone into one large microlighting community where we all can impart our knowledge and continue to learn everyday.

I would like to welcome you to the my site and contribute to it so we all can promote the sport under one large microlighting community. And of course if you have any suggestions for the site, I would be more than gald to hear from you. I setup and maintain this website purely for the love of microlighting and helping to promote the sport. The site is here for your enjoyment and the enjoyment of hopeful future microlight pilots.

Thank you,
Anthony Campbell.
